Understanding Sustainability and Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Miranda Rankin, Manager, Sustainability and Climate, 3R Sustainability
Companies, organizations, and communities are becoming more aware of their impact on the environment and the benefits of operating a more sustainable business by reducing their environmental footprint and becoming better community stewards. With a focus on long-term sustainability, the tri-state region is poised to lead the transition towards clean energy manufacturing by investing in sustainable and efficient facility upgrades while reducing the reliance on fossil-based fuels and operations.
Sustainability is a rapidly expanding field, and education is the first step to understanding the impact that sustainable operations have on a business, leading to reduced resource requirements, increased stakeholder engagement, and long-term stability. This video provides a primer on the concept of sustainability, starting with an introduction to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, how a GHG inventory is calculated, and how to use this knowledge to realize energy efficiency, environmental stewardship, and increased profitability. We are joined by 3R Sustainability, a Pittsburgh-based consultancy with a global reach, that works at the intersection of ESG, climate, building performance, and reporting. 3R helps clients realize the value of sustainability across their organization and assets by identifying goals, defining prioritized action plans, reporting progress with accurate data, and if desired, pursuing certification to sustainability assessments and building standards.
